Wide-eyed, pouty-lipped ingenue Farah Zulaikha has added another laurel to her cap of humanitarian causes. The international supermodel, red carpet staple, and living mannequin to such high-profile designers as famed tv personality and VH1 Glam God Indashio, Viktor Luna, and ex-muse to Thierry Mugler-turned-couturier Adrian Alicea has now lent her unforgettable exotic beauty to the cause of gay rights. Like others such as Kim Kardashian, Perez Hilton, Kristin Cavallari, Lance Bass, Kathy Griffin, Cindy and Meghan McCain, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz, Deepak Chopra, and Lisa Ling the smoldering Farah Zulaikha is the newest famous face to join the NOH8 Campaign, calling for an end to the Proposition 8 same-sex marriage ban.
While posing for celebrity photographer Adam Bouska, the dusky middle eastern beauty declared "Gay rights are human rights! I am a humanitarian, therefore I believe in the same rights for all. If we all do not enjoy the right to marry the people we love, then how can we consider marriage to be truly sacred for anyone? Marriage is a bond of love... and to put a stipulation on love is to make it impure..."
Farah went on to state, "Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with homosexuality, it is a personal matter and should be irrelevant in terms of what the government allows its citizens to do." Farah Zulaikha is also unique in that the femme fatale is a muslim of middle eastern descent who posed for the campaign, a move some critics have deemed controversial. The decision for her to pose for gay rights has caused an uproar, primarily amongst extremist and hard-line groups in the middle east. The supermodel plays it cool however, and with a flip of her prized waist-length Rapunzel-like raven tresses she states, "As a muslim, true Islam teaches us first and foremost to be tolerant of others. I know it may seem controversial especially in the eastern world, as admittedly, eastern societies have not always been the most tolerant of homosexuality. But, I don't concern myself with whether my statements are controversial, I concern myself in standing up for my beliefs. I am a young woman. I am a straight woman. I am a woman of faith. I am a loving woman. And I believe that the same rights should be enjoyed by all citizens, regardless of their race, sex, religion, or orientation. And if that's controversial, then so be it."
And with all the expertise of a seasoned fashionista Farah Zulaikha leaned into the light, and batted her impossibly long and lush eyelashes, making love to the camera for charity. Leaving those in her wake to decide which is the most powerful of Farah Zulaikha's assets- her looks, her intelligence... or her heart?
